There are currently 10 Deputy Chief Ministers in India but before we get into the list of Current Deputy Chief Ministers of India, let’s have a quick intro about them.
The Deputy Chief Minister is a member of the state government. While not a constitutional office, it seldom carries any specific powers. A Deputy Chief Minister usually also holds a cabinet portfolio such as the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Ministry of Finance.
The position of Deputy Chief Minister is used to bring political stability and strength to a coalition government.

- In the parliamentary system of government, the Chief Minister is treated as the “First Among Equals” in the cabinet.
- Currently, 10 out of the 28 Indian States have Deputy Chief Ministers.
- Out of these 10 States, Andhra Pradesh has five Deputy Chief Ministers, while Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Uttar Pradesh have two Deputy Chief Ministers each. No other states and union territories have more than one Deputy Chief Minister in office.
